Detection Substrates and Measurement Principles:
1,2-o-Dilaurin-racemic-glyceryl-3-valerate-(6-methylresorufin) ester
Lipase hydrolyzes the substrate in a microemulsion containing co-lipase and bile acids, inhibiting the effects of other hydrolases and esterases. The resulting increase in absorbance due to the degradation of 6-methylresorufin ester is directly proportional to lipase activity in the sample.
Clinical Significance of Lipase:
Acute Pancreatitis: Lipase activity measurement aids in diagnosing pancreatic diseases, particularly acute pancreatitis, with high sensitivity (80%-100%) and specificity (84%-96%). It is particularly useful in later stages of the disease.
Acute Abdomen: Elevated serum lipase levels may indicate acute abdomen conditions.
Chronic Kidney Disease: Increased serum lipase levels may be observed in chronic kidney disease.
Differential Diagnosis between Mumps and Macroamylasemia: Serum lipase remains stable during mumps and macroamylasemia, making it a valuable differential diagnostic indicator.
